For finance and FP&A operators under board, audit, or lender pressure

Stop reworking the numbers after close

Ambient ships contract-backed Gold actuals for FP&A - versioned definitions, lakehouse governance, and adapters into workspace and BI. Inspect the pattern in ambient-core (MIT). Run hosted validation on ambient-systems-platform when approved.

Request validation

  • Work email starts a validation conversation.
  • Ability to pay before launch is the filter.
  • Approved accounts sign in through Members.

Problem

Why finance still rebuilds the numbers

01

Numbers move after close

Finance still rebuilds actuals when ERP, spreadsheets, and BI disagree under board or lender pressure.

02

Definitions drift

Each team patches KPI logic in the tool of the week. Audit trails break; rework becomes the job.

03

Dashboards are not the product

Presentation layers cannot fix missing contracts. Gold has to leave with lineage and a versioned definition.

What we deliver

Governed products, not presentation layers

Contracts

Versioned, ODCS-shaped definitions for metrics. Gold does not leave without a contract. Auditors and lenders can follow the same rules your pipeline used.

Catalogue

Reference metrics and industry packs so FP&A starts from shared coverage - not a blank lakehouse spreadsheet.

Notebooks

Inspectable notebooks that show how Bronze and Silver land, and how contract-backed Gold is computed under those contracts.

Pipeline

ambient_pipeline on local Spark/Delta in ambient-core, or hosted Bronze-Silver-Gold on the commercial platform. Same contract idea either way.

Who it's for

Self-identify if you own the numbers - or diligence the people who do

Finance and FP&A operators

You own the close, the board pack, or the lender file. You need contract-backed actuals that survive review - not another dashboard skin.

Investors who know those operators

You diligence teams that live under audit and capital pressure. You want the same governed Gold story the operator can defend.

Who pays / membership path

Identity first: who clears the filter, and what approval unlocks

Step 1

Request

Leave a work email on this page.

Step 2

Filter

Ability to pay before launch. Fit review, not a waitlist vanity count.

Step 3

Members

Approved accounts sign in for hosted validation. Docs sit behind that wall.

Who pays: Operator-side finance and FP&A buyers who clear ability to pay before launch - not dashboard shoppers.

Membership path:

  • Submit a work email for a validation conversation.
  • Ambient reviews fit against ability to pay before launch.
  • Approved accounts use Members for hosted validation. Docs sit behind that wall.
  • Public list pricing stays frozen until hub Stage 4 and Stage 5 gates pass.

IP: Ambient ships contract-backed Gold - ODCS-shaped contracts, Unity Catalog governance, consumption adapters. Ambient Core (MIT) is the inspectable distribution.

Commercial filter: Ability to pay before launch. Work the qualified STP overlap. Do not invent traction.

Product options

Two products: ambient-core (MIT / Open Source Integrator) and ambient-systems-platform (Platform Subscriber / Command Centre). Core runs standalone with local Spark/Delta. Platform is the hosted commercial SKU that pins tagged core - it does not fork it.

Open Source Integrator

ambient-core

v0.3.6 · MIT

Contracts, catalog, validators/CLI, notebooks, and ambient_pipeline that run standalone with local Spark/Delta. No Databricks required. Same demo CSVs the commercial path can show.

Platform Subscriber / Command Centre

ambient-systems-platform

v1.0 · Hosted commercial

Hosted product on Firebase, GCP, and Databricks: multi-tenant workspace, hosted pipeline, usage gates. Pins a tagged ambient-core release; does not fork core.

Detail and boundary rules

  • Contracts and metrics live in ambient-core.
  • Hosted workflows and UI live in ambient-systems-platform.
  • Platform pins a tagged core release; it does not fork core.
  • MIT License on ambient-core means you can use, copy, modify, and redistribute the software, including commercially, as long as you keep the copyright and license notice. It is not a paid Ambient SKU; Ivan maintains the public core.

What MIT License means here

You may use, copy, modify, and share ambient-core - including for commercial work - if you keep the copyright and license notice. The software is free; Ambient does not charge for the MIT core. Ivan maintains it. Your cloud compute and engineering time are still yours to fund.

ambient-systems-platform

Platform Subscriber / Command Centre - hosted validation workspace on governed Gold

  • Overview - location-filtered financial and operational metrics
  • FP&A Workspace - KPI tracking, goals, early-access forecast
  • Data - CSV bronze upload, manual entry, medallion fulfillment
  • Organizations - members, commercial usage, pipeline status

Managed ERP connectors are requested through the Data hub - not live OAuth self-serve in the app today. The commercial product pins a tagged ambient-core release; it does not fork core.

  • 1

    Governed connection

Catalog metrics, Bronze → Silver → Gold processing, uploads, and fulfillment status - not generic ERP sync claims.

  • 2

    Auditable metrics

Financial and operational KPIs with lineage from pipeline to Gold. Numbers that survive review.

  • 3

    Consumption where you work

Workspace and BI adapters read contract-backed Gold only. Gold does not leave without a contract.

Request platform access

Same validation path as membership. Work email; ability to pay before launch is the filter.

Demo personas with synthetic Gold data (local Tier A). Screenshots show contract-backed metrics - not third-party ratings.

How it works

Medallion path to contract-backed Gold

Assurance first. Each layer has a job:

  • Bronze - raw ingest, kept traceable.
  • Silver - cleansed and validated records.
  • Gold - metrics computed under versioned contracts so numbers stay defensible.

YAML / ODCS-shaped contracts define Gold products - schemas, quality, metric definitions, lineage, freshness. Workspace and BI read Gold only through consumption adapters. They do not redefine KPIs in the BI layer.

Databricks medallion plus Unity Catalog; GCP hosting. Said plainly for operators.

Build vs buy

DIY ambient-core (OSS) versus buy ambient-systems-platform - including a cost lens

Build from scratch

Without Ambient

ambient-core

OSS · Open Source Integrator

ambient-systems-platform

Buy · Platform Subscriber / Command Centre

What you get
  • Invent contracts, catalog, pipeline governance, and UI from scratch.
  • MIT ambient-core: contracts, catalog, validators/CLI, notebooks.
  • ambient_pipeline on local Spark/Delta - no Databricks required.
  • Hosted Command Centre on Firebase, GCP, and Databricks.
  • Multi-tenant workspace, hosted pipeline, usage gates.
  • Pins tagged ambient-core; does not fork it.
Time to value
  • Months of platform work before the first finance-ready number lands.
  • Inspect and run the OSS pattern locally first.
  • You still own deploy, tenancy, and UI.
  • Paid validation for approved accounts.
  • Governed Gold in a managed workspace instead of rebuilding the stack.
Headcount
  • Several engineers (often 3–6+) to design and keep lakehouse, governance, contracts, and consumption alive.
  • About one to two FTEs to run ambient-core (pipeline, contracts, CI) without the commercial product.
  • Hosted ops, tenancy, and Command Centre delivery included.
  • Your team focuses on data fit and validation.
Cost
  • Software subscriptions stack fast on a DIY lakehouse/FP&A path (public list shapes, USD, not a quote):
  • Databricks: PAYG in DBUs; AWS Premium list often ~$0.15–$0.70 per DBU by compute type, plus cloud VMs/storage on classic SKUs.
  • BI seats: Power BI Pro about $14/user/month; Tableau Creator about $75/user/month (public list).
  • Add cloud hosting, orchestration, and the engineering payroll above. Small production footprints commonly land mid-four to low-five figures USD per month once interactive warehouses and BI seats run - before you finish contracts and governance.
  • ambient-core software is free under MIT. Ivan maintains the public core.
  • You still fund your own Spark/Delta (or other) compute, storage, CI, and the 1–2 FTE run cost.
  • No Ambient license fee for the OSS integrator itself.
  • Buy path: hosted commercial product for approved accounts.
  • Public Ambient list pricing stays frozen until hub Stage 4 and Stage 5 gates pass.
  • Request validation on this page; ability to pay before launch is the filter.
Governance
  • Ad hoc rules drift; definitions are hard to defend under review.
  • Open ODCS-shaped contracts and catalog.
  • DQ scorecards, lineage helpers, reviewable YAML.
  • Same core contracts in production.
  • Hosted workflows for benchmarking, assurance, investor, and planning loops.
Path
  • Full rebuild ownership - stack risk stays with you.
  • OSS path: adopt Ambient Core yourself. Not a paid SKU.
  • Buy path: Platform Subscriber / Command Centre - the paid commercial product.

Cost notes cite public vendor list shapes (Databricks DBU ranges; Microsoft Power BI Pro; Tableau Creator). They are planning ranges, not Ambient quotes and not a promise of your bill.
