Using the platform
Guides for operators and power users with access to the Ambient Command Centre. Metric equations live under Integrator; this section covers product behavior.

Open-Source Core pin in the product: Ambient Core in the platform (under Start Here).
What you see after login
Each organization (tenant) has its own governed workspace. During onboarding you choose an industry pack from the Ambient Core catalog - that vertical sets default KPIs, suggested data options (dataset templates), and FP&A workspace lenses.
Typical areas in the Command Centre:
- Onboarding - confirm organization profile, industry pack, and initial data connections.
- Overview - executive snapshot of tracked metrics and recent activity.
- FP&A Workspace - planning, variance, and industry-specific KPI views for your pack.
- Data hub - map catalog data options to uploads, track fulfillment status, and open source detail.
From data options to KPIs
Catalog metrics and data options are defined under Integrator (Reference catalog). Operator docs do not restate equations. In the app, metrics label what Overview and FP&A show; data options are the dataset templates you fulfill in Data hub.
Typical path for a derived KPI:
- Pick the data option your pack expects (see Reference catalog and the pack Data options section).
- Upload or enter data in the Data hub and complete field mapping for your organization.
- The hosted pipeline validates against governed products and publishes Gold outputs for your org.
- Overview and FP&A Workspace read those governed results (Core calc expressions run in the pipeline - not redefined here).
If a KPI stays empty, confirm the linked data option is fulfilled and pipeline status is healthy - see Data hub and Hosted pipeline.
How data flows (conceptual)
- Upload or connect - files and connector feeds are scoped to your organization.
- Processing - governed jobs validate and transform data into analytical products.
- Gold products - curated metrics and tables your organization is allowed to consume.
- In-app mirror - low-latency views for Overview, FP&A, and Data hub.
- External BI (optional) - approved sharing paths for Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
Three planes (do not conflate them)
- Reference catalog - KPI definitions, methodologies, calc expressions, and data options (Integrator SSOT). Touch via onboarding, Data hub, and Reference catalog.
- Contracts - Governed data products (schemas, lineage, SLAs). Touch via pipeline status, org data panels, assurance workflows.
- Gold - Computed analytical outputs. Touch via Overview, FP&A Workspace, external BI when enabled.
Changing a catalog metric definition is not the same as changing a Gold value - catalog drives templates and labels; Gold holds computed results for your org.
Open-Source Core vs this product
Integrators embed ambient-core (MIT) in their own stacks. The commercial Command Centre adds multi-tenant hosting, the medallion pipeline, and workspace features on top of the same catalog and contracts story. Comparison: Core vs platform.
